Welcome to Norton Radstock Swimming Club

Norton Radstock Swimming Club (NRSC) has embarked on a new chapter of our history with a move to Downside School in Stratton-on-the-Fosse. NRSC has provided a pathway into aquatic sports to the young people of Midsomer Norton, Radstock and surrounding communities for over 60 years at Midsomer Norton Leisure Centre. However, change is a natural part of all organisations and the financial pressures of the last few years have led the current committee and club members looking for opportunities to reduce costs and ultimately, ensure we can continue to provide a route into aquatics for the young people in our community.

We are a small, friendly club which operates independently of the school, run solely by a team of committed volunteers. Our catchment area is Midsomer Norton, Radstock and surrounding villages, however swimmers do travel from neighbouring counties. The Club is an inclusive club with experience of the Para Pathway; all enquiries are welcome.

Swimming is such a good form of exercise and being part of a swimming club is a fun and sociable way of staying fit and entering the world of competitive swimming for those that wish to.

At the 2016 A.S.A. Aquatics Awards we were awarded silver in the Club of the Year category. For a small club to receive this award from our governing body was a huge achievement, great recognition for the hard work and passion for aquatics that drives our volunteer workforce.

Our aim is to provide an opportunity for children whom having reached the recommended stage of Swim England’s Learn to Swim Programme make a successful transition into a club environment. Swimmer’s continued development is under pinned by a skills based approach to refine stroke technique and competitive skills. The long term aim is for all swimmers to be developed to their full potential, compete at the highest possible level and develop a lifelong love of aquatics.

  • NRSC is where the dream began for 2012 London Olympian Stacey Bromley, (nee Tadd). In 2013 Stacey accepted Life Membership of the Club, she continues to inspire our members through stroke / skills Master Classes held throughout the year to enhance our Club programme.
